ABOUT

Chyna Cassell is an event producer, creative writer, and multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work sits at the intersection of international politics, aesthetics, linguistics, and cultural analysis & criticism. She received her bachelor's in Global Studies, with a double minor in French Studies and Race & Ethnicity Studies, from The New School in 2021.

Since then, she has produced events, including New York Fashion Week shows, and nonprofit fundraisers and galas. She has collaborated with The Brooklyn Public Library to lead workshops and will partner with them again to present a workshop on artistic opportunities.

In 2021, she was an artist-in-residence at Casa Na Ilha Residency in Ilhabela, Brazil where she developed fiction works and her photography. A founding member of the Transatlantic Writers Group, she explores how the personal is political and permeates relationships between postcolonial subjects through her literary works. You can read her work in Afapinen and The Shallow Tales Review.
